An intimate experience where a Finnish landscape unfolds through story, sound, scent, light, sauna and taste. Created for four to ten guests in carefully selected Helsinki saunas.

• The idea
Helsinki already has the saunas. We bring the story.
The Living Sauna is a hosted sauna experience composed as an immersive artwork. Across two to three rounds of löyly, guests enter a story rooted in a Finnish landscape: its water, forests, seasons, species and histories.
The story lives in what guests hear, smell, touch, taste and feel: a soundscape composition created by a sound ecologist, scent in the air, a change in light, a few words from the host, and time to tune in with our inner voice.
Every element is composed with restraint, allowing the sauna's own atmosphere to lead. Guests leave with a personal encounter with Finnish culture: a story they can take home, beyond Helsinki.

Finnish sauna culture has been passed between generations as a practice of community, cleansing, rest and care. Sauna is already deeply immersive: heat, steam, wood, water, scent, sound and the company of others.
We work with selected venues and their hosts to preserve the character, etiquette and rhythm of each sauna. Small speakers, discreet lighting and subtle scent extend its sensory possibilities where appropriate.
The stove, löyly, cooling breaks and each guest's personal experience remain at the centre.
Finnish sauna culture was inscribed on UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2020.

The Immersion
A welcome, an illustrated Guide card and a focused sauna journey. Story, sound, scent and light subtly accompany löyly, cooling and rest. A quiet closing completes the experience. No food included.
The Immersion & a Taste
A 90-minute hosted journey, from the opening story through sauna rounds, cooling and reflection. Afterwards, guests gather for a 30-minute regional tasting that carries the story into food and conversation.
The Full Journey
Two hours dedicated to the sauna experience, including the welcome, story, löyly, cooling and unhurried rest. A one-hour regional meal follows, with time for conversation.
Every format follows each guest's pace. Swimming is included where available. Each guest takes their Guide card home.
• Four Finnish landscapes
Four ways into the story.
Each version is an original artistic composition, developed through regional research and adapted to its Helsinki venue.
The Archipelago
Salt, wind and shelter. Sea sounds, juniper, weathered wood and a taste of Baltic fish carry a story of life beside the water.
The Lakeland
Birch, waves and midsummer light. Water against a shore, the scent of a fresh vihta and smoked vendace on rye evoke a lakeside evening.
Karelia
Song, memory and care. Kantele, birch and Karelian pies accompany a story informed by regional traditions.
Lapland
Seasonal darkness and returning light. Forest scents, fell wind, leipäjuusto and cloudberries.
Local facilitators help ground each story. Food and sensory details follow each season and chosen region.
• The Lakeland · A midsummer evening
A table holds objects connected to the lakeside landscape, each paired with a different Guide card. One guest chooses a small stone. Another, a piece of birch.
Birch scent, the sound of waves on water, and the host's story accompany the sauna rounds. Each object offers a personal way into a shared experience.

Each experience names and celebrates its host sauna. The venue's own history and character become part of the encounter.
Phones stay away during the bathing experience. For creator and media visits, an optional content package can include photography, short vertical clips and an original sound excerpt.
